Which products are covered?
Article 2 includes products containing at least 80% textile fibres by weight, with specified provisions for textile components. Examples include clothing, fabrics, yarn, carpets, curtains and furnishings.
| Product category | Examples | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Clothing | Garments and underwear | Record fibre composition, intended age group and skin contact; review the assessment route. |
| Fabrics and yarn | Textile fabrics and yarns | Check fibre percentages and intended use against Article 2. |
| Carpets | Textile carpets | Review composition and the provisions for textile components. |
| Curtains and furnishings | Curtains and textile furnishings | Identify the textile components and review applicable composition and labelling provisions. |
Product examples are not a complete classification. Read the official text and confirm the applicable scope before making an application.
Check the boundaries
Medical-purpose or medically claimed products and footwear governed by the footwear regulation are excluded. Check the full component rules and intended use before deciding the route.
What to review
Review fibre-composition labelling and safety evidence. Article 6 distinguishes underwear and textiles for children under 36 months from other covered products when specifying conformity assessment.
GoCertify
Prepare for a product review
GoCertify’s practical starting checklist. The final evidence depends on the product and applicable assessment route.
Record the product type, intended wearer and age group, fibre percentages, and whether the item contacts skin directly.
Prepare readable photographs of the sewn-in label and packaging, together with manufacturer and model or style references.
Organise available test reports by fabric, finish and product range. Highlight differences so the reviewer can assess whether existing evidence is relevant.
What should I send for a clothing collection?
Start with a style list and a comparison of fabrics, compositions, colours and finishes. Keep the label artwork and test-report references beside each style. This is more useful for a scope review than a catalogue alone.
